About the Artist - Eelco van Loenen
‘’Life is both complex and simple. Everything you experience adds layers and shapes you as a person. For me, art is always a reflection of life. Sometimes it’s childishly simple but it can also be raw and difficult. This contrast creates space for recognition and discovery. It captures the beauty of both the familiar and the unknown, the overlooked and the unloved.’’

Eelco van Loenen, born in 1969 in Zwanenburg, is an entrepreneur, artist, and sports enthusiast who currently lives and works in Monnickendam (Amsterdam Metropolitan Region). As the founder of Estadium, he focuses on the acquisition and development of real estate projects, ranging from individual buildings to entire urban areas. Alongside his business ventures, Van Loenen is an autonomous visual artist whose work offers a fresh perspective on everyday themes.
Van Loenen is known for his intuitive and layered approach to art, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, texts, furniture, and architectural designs.
His work often features recurring symbols, such as the dot, representing focus and life’s beginnings and endings, and the square, symbolizing life’s stages and thresholds. These seemingly simple forms hold deeper meanings, reflecting his introspective journey.
Central to his art are female figures. They embody life, love, and relationships, often mixed with text to add depth to his narratives.
The work explores the tension between geometry and freedom, creating a visual harmony that evokes emotions ranging from tranquility to tension. This dynamic is not only present in his art but also in his approach to life. Whether in real estate development, painting, or cycling - a recurring theme throughout Van Loenen’s life is that he’s always searching for movement, contrast, and energy.
After a successful solo exhibition in Amsterdam in 1999, he chose to step away from the commercial pressures of the traditional art market. This approach allows him to focus deeply on his creative process, driven by inspiration, patience, and reflection. He works on diverse projects simultaneously but at an organic pace.
Van Loenen’s work has gained international recognition and is part of various international collections, ranging from private collectors to institutions and companies like Schiphol and ABN AMRO Bank.
